Ekoteko Vuokatti
Between April 1st 2010 and March 31st 2012, the project will determine:
• The thoughts and wishes of different parties (entrepreneurs, citizens, landowners and tourists) on developing Vuokatti in order to achieve the emission objectives set to Finland among other countries.
• The energy consumption of companies and the need for improving energy efficiency.
• How much of the energy is produced via renewable energy sources, and how the use of renewable energy could be increased.
• The carbon foot prints of each company at the beginning of the project. This makes it easier for the companies to begin developing their operations so that their emissions and carbon foot prints are reduced.
In addition, the project:
• Calculates the initial carbon foot prints of each company. This makes it easier for the companies to begin developing their operations so that their emissions and carbon foot prints are reduced.
• Writes a final report, which includes all the matters discovered during the project, as well as all measures which can be taken to improve regional energy efficiency and reduce the carbon foot print. In addition, the measures to be taken in different fields to bring the tourist area to a more sustainable foundation will be written down.
Communication in terms of the project will be implemented via different media, as well as via seminars, which study, for example, related measures taken elsewhere and their effects on the energy bills of companies, the reactions of tourists, and thus turnover. The seminars will also discuss potential new regulations on the matter which would concern the companies in the area.
